Donate

Every donation is receipted, 80G eligible under Indian income tax law, and accounted for publicly. Here is exactly what each amount pays for.

Receipts, tax and refunds

Donations to the Foundation qualify for deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, which generally allows 50% of the donated amount as a deduction, subject to the limits that apply to your total income.

The exact benefit depends on your tax slab and on whether you have opted for the old or new tax regime — deductions under 80G are generally not available under the new regime. Please check with your tax advisor rather than relying on this page.

An acknowledgement is emailed immediately. The formal 80G receipt follows within seven working days, and requires your PAN and address. If it has not arrived, write to donations@vrindvila.org and we will reissue it.

Donations are generally non-refundable, because funds are committed to programmes as they arrive. Where a donation was a duplicate, an error, or for an amount you did not intend, we will refund it on request within 30 days of the transaction. If a receipt has already been issued, it is cancelled and you are told in writing.

Only if the funds are not a foreign contribution as defined by the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act. The Foundation is not FCRA registered, so we cannot legally accept foreign contributions — which includes donations from people holding foreign passports, even those of Indian origin.

An NRI donating from an NRE or NRO account funded by Indian-source income may be able to give. Please write to us first so we can check before you send anything.

Yes, but please ask first. We can use books, stationery, school bags, unopened medical consumables and working equipment. We cannot use used clothing, expired medicines, or anything needing storage we do not have — and refusing a well-meant donation is an awkward conversation we would both rather avoid.

Note that donations in kind do not qualify for an 80G deduction.

Pledging your organs takes two minutes and could save up to eight lives. It is worth more than most donations on this page.
